Because our staff and leaders value personal development so deeply, we are very fortunate to be able to offer a rich variety of extra- curricular activities. We believe that every pupil has gifts and interests they can develop at school. As a result, we run a comprehensive enrichment programme. Throughout the academic year, staff and external experts contribute to ensure that we offer an extensive range of activities to engage all. The clubs range from maths, chess, bushcraft, archery, choir, crafts, gardening and languages to rugby, netball, dodgeball, cross country football and yoga. We aim to provide pupils of all ages with the opportunity to develop their interests and abilities.
Our extra-curricular enrichment offers pupils a chance to develop their talents as well as their physical and emotional wellbeing. The programme also offers a chance for pupils to strengthen their interpersonal links with pupils in other year groups. The diverse achievements of our talented pupils are showcased and celebrated in class assemblies where they are encouraged to share their successes.
Many clubs are run by members of our staff and most clubs are provided to the children free of charge. Where an external provider delivers a club, parents are asked to pay a fee (in many cases school subsidises this to make it more affordable). We have canvassed the ideas and opinions of our pupils, ensuring a tailored and bespoke program. The extra-curricular activities on offer change every half term to reflect the interests of our pupils.
In the 2021/2022 academic year, we offered 43 after school clubs (20 of which were free of charge). Over two thirds of our SEND and disadvantaged pupils accessed extra curricular provision.
In the 2022/2023 academic year, we offered 39 after school clubs (19 of which were free of charge). 66% of our SEND pupils accessed extra curricular provision as did 71% of our disadvantaged pupils (an increase on the previous year). This is broadly in line with the 70% of other pupils who accessed the provision.
