Parents/carers are requested to send their children to school to arrive no earlier than 8:40am each day when gates will be opened for access. Any messages for teachers may be passed on via senior leaders and staff who will be supervising the gate and access doors. Pupils should be in school by 8:50am when registration session begins.
All Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils will have a 20-minute assembly (see table below) and six teaching activities on a typical school day.
The school day finishes at 3.20pm. Children are brought out onto the playground by class teachers before being collected or going home by themselves (if written consent has been provided).
In a school week, the compulsory school day amounts to 32 hours and 30 minutes which meets the DfE’s statutory entitlement which comes into effect from September 2023.
Breaks, Lunch and Snacks
Each class has a 15-minute morning break.
Learning breaks in the afternoon can be built into the day by teachers in response to the needs of the class. Children should not bring their toys to play with; equipment is provided on both playgrounds. Personal possessions are the responsibility of the child and not the school. Items may be confiscated until collected by an adult as per the Searching, Screening and Confiscation Policy.
All pupils will have a sit-down lunch followed by a break (50 minutes in total for Key Stage Two, 55 minutes for Key Stage One and an hour for EYFS).
Children are permitted to bring fruit as a snack for play times. Nuts or products containing nuts are not permitted on site.
